Recruitment Underway for New Chair

October 16, 2023

Recruitment is underway to find a new Chair for Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust.

Ingrid Barker has been our Chair since October 2019, having been the Joint Chair for Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust and 2gether NHS Foundation Trust since January 2018.  Prior to that she was the Chair of Gloucestershire Care Services from April 2011 and previously a Non-Executive Director on the Board of NHS Gloucestershire Primary Care Trust for five years.

Ingrid’s term of office is due to end in April 2024, so the process of recruiting a new Chair has now begun.

Ingrid said: “It has been an enormous privilege and pleasure to be the Chair of Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust and its predecessor organisations for more than 12 years, and to have been part of NHS Gloucestershire for five years prior to that. I feel passionate about the work we do with and for the people we serve. For me this really is the end of an era!

“Community services for people with physical health, mental health and learning disability conditions are of huge importance yet often unsung. At times when people are often feeling vulnerable and in great need, our Trust colleagues work hard to support them to be safe and well in their own homes, as well as in our in-patient settings. To me these services really are the underpinning foundations of the NHS and very much the future direction for health and social care. I will be very sad to leave the Trust and I’m determined to ensure a smooth handover to my successor.

“I am certain the Chair role will be hugely attractive to someone who cares about the things we cherish and who embraces our values. We are a strong Trust with much to be proud of, so my successor will have a terrific opportunity to build on our many successes in leading the Board through the Trust’s next phase of its exciting journey.”

Recruitment to the Chair’s position is the responsibility of the Council of Governors, guided by our Senior Independent Director, Marcia Gallagher. The search is being conducted by Finegreen and full details of the role can be found here: Chair (finegreen.co.uk)
