Covid Spring 2026 Campaign

Spring 2026 Covid boosters

As we move into spring, the NHS wants to help our patients stay healthy and protected. COVID-19 is still with us, and for those at higher risk, a ‘booster’ dose helps top up your protection.

The NHS spring vaccination programme starts mid April 2026.

Who can get the spring booster?

The booster is offered to people who are most likely to get seriously ill from the virus.

You are eligible if you are:

  • Aged 75 or over (or if you turn 75 by 30 June 2026)
  • Living in a care home for older adults
  • Severely immunosuppressed..
Why should I get the booster?

Protection from previous doses or infections fades over time. Viruses can also change. Getting this extra dose:

  • Reduces your risk of getting very poorly
  • Helps you recover faster if you do catch it
  • Reduces the chance of needing to go to hospital.
How to get your vaccination

The NHS will contact you if you’re eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. When the COVID-19 vaccine is available, there will be different ways to get the vaccine. You may be able to:

  • book online
  • get vaccinated at a local service, such as a community pharmacy or your GP surgery
  • get vaccinated at your care home (if you live in a care home).

Community Covid booster clinics

Our Outreach Vaccination and Health team are also offering drop-in COVID-19 clinics to those who are eligible.

People eligible include:

  • all adults aged 75 years and over
  • residents in older adult registered care homes
  • people aged 6 months and over who are severely immunosuppressed.

As well as a COVID booster you can receive a blood pressure check, healthcare advice and signposting to free local services.

No appointment required

If you are eligible and would like to take up the offer of a free COVID vaccine at one of our drop-in clinics, simply drop in – no appointment is required.
