Covid Spring 2026 Campaign

Spring 2026 Covid boosters

People aged 75 and over, those aged six months and over who are immunosuppressed, and residents of older adult care homes are now eligible for the COVID-19 spring vaccination.

COVID-19 continues to spread year‑round and can be very serious, especially for older people and those with weakened immune systems. Protection from previous infection or vaccination can fade over time, so topping up your immunity is important if you are at higher risk.

The vaccine offers strong protection against severe illness, hospitalisation and death. The NHS will invite eligible people, but you do not need to wait for an invitation to book.

Matthew Dominey, Consultant in Public Health and Screening and Immunisation Lead, NHS England South West, said: “COVID-19 remains a serious risk for those most vulnerable. If you are eligible – aged 75 or over (by 30 June 2025), immunosuppressed, or living in an older adult care home – make sure you get vaccinated this spring. Appointments are available at pharmacies, GP practices and walk‑in clinics, with bookings open now.”

The spring vaccination programme runs until 30 June. Appointments can be booked up to 29 June, with vaccinations starting from 13 April.

Who can get the spring booster?
The booster is offered to people who are most likely to get seriously ill from the virus.

You are eligible if you are:

  • Aged 75 or over (or if you turn 75 by 30 June 2026)
  • Living in a care home for older adults
  • Severely immunosuppressed..
Why should I get the booster?
Protection from previous doses or infections fades over time. Viruses can also change. Getting this extra dose:

  • Reduces your risk of getting very poorly
  • Helps you recover faster if you do catch it
  • Reduces the chance of needing to go to hospital.
How to get your vaccination
The NHS will contact you if you’re eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. Getting your vaccination is very convenient, with hundreds of appointments available every day.

You can book an appointment via the NHS app, online on the NHS website, by calling 119 or 18001 119 on a text phone.

You can also attend a community Covid booster clinic (see dates and locations below).

If you receive health care at home, speak with your GP about a home visit.

You can find the latest information about the COVID-19 vaccine at www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccine
