Charlton Lane Hospital Parking Notice

Please note that parking is limited at Charlton Lane Hospital. It is recommended that you plan to visit the hospital during quieter periods.

  • The Hospital is busiest during the hours of 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday.
  • Outside of these hours is the quietest time to visit.

Charlton Lane Hospital provides specialist assessment, treatment and care for older people with functional mental health problems and people with dementia. The hospital is equipped with state of the art technology. This includes assistive technologies to ensure the safety and comfort of patients. It was designed with advice from Stirling University who are international experts in dementia and environments.

Charlton Lane has three wards, Chestnut, Mulberry and Willow. It also has a family suite, a therapy department which includes an arts room and physiotherapy room.  Each ward has access to communal and private sensory gardens.

Visiting times

The restrictions brought in as a result of the Covid pandemic are no longer be in place, however we are still be asking all visitors to follow sensible infection prevention and control guidance, including hand washing and use of hand gel. Visitors are already no longer required to carry out lateral flow tests before visiting, however we would ask that anyone with Covid or with symptoms of any respiratory or gastro intestinal illness does not visit, to prevent infecting vulnerable patients and our staff.

Pre-booking of visits is no longer required but please check the arrangements for the ward or unit you are planning to visit before attending, just in case there are particular circumstances to be aware of. Visiting times are flexible and we understand that in certain circumstances, visiting outside specified hours can be beneficial. In order to avoid mealtimes, please visit during our standard visiting hours which are:

  • 2pm – 5pm
  • 6pm – 8pm

Please can no more than four people visit you at any one time. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
