Media reporting and reducing stigma
As a Trust, we are working to reduce the stigma surrounding mental ill health and media reporting plays a key role in this. If you are writing or producing a story about mental health or learning disabilities, we are always happy to provide support and advice on conditions and the most appropriate language to use.
We urge all media to follow the Samaritans’ Media Guidelines for Reporting Suicides.
The Dementia Engagement and Empowerment Project (DEEP) has produced a set of guidelines for reporting about people with dementia.
